This network of housing options is designed to meet the diverse support and supervision needs of its tenants and allow individuals to move from one level of support to another in independent living. This location offers 35 rental units with shared common area, kitchen and washrooms to people diagnosed with serious mental illness and who were either living in shelters or on the street. This 36 unit Ministry of Health funded building housed its first tenant in May of 2005. This program provides supportive housing to individuals with serious mental illness or concurrent disorders. Tenancy in this location requires that the individual be self-sufficient and responsible for the maintenance of their health. Brigid’s Place provides transitional housing to women who are homeless, street entrenched and living with a mental illness and/or an addiction. The program’s mission is to promote women’s quality of life by working with them on various harm reduction strategies. A partnership between the Shepherds of Good Hope, Ottawa Inner City Health, and Canadian Mental Health Association. 45 of the units are designated as domiciliary hostel beds under the city of Ottawa. 15 of the domiciliary beds are for ‘aging at home’ residents. 30 of the beds are for ‘Managed Alcohol Residents’ and 10 beds are allocated towards CMHA.
