Social Initiative
All people need to feel appreciated and to experience their own self worth. The homeless are not an exception. Although we are still at the beginning stages, our plans and endeavors involve the engagement of our clients in small jobs around Shepherds of Good Hope. With these jobs, our clients are part of the active community and can feel that they are contributing in their own way. Our philosophy has evolved from serving the homeless to journeying with them in dignity. In the future we would like to encourage skills training for our clients in order to help them contribute to society in whatever way they are able. We are pleased to report that in 2007, Shepherds of Good Hope clients contributed over 8,000 hours of volunteer time around the shelter, soup kitchen and surrounding properties.
