Prepared Food Policy Change

Jan 1, 2018 by

Do you have questions about our prepared food item policy?

The recent change to our donated food policy came about due to a comprehensive review of our food handling policies and procedures. The health and safety of our community members is paramount. Our staff have received food handler training and before we serve any prepared food product, we do a complete food safety check, as per provincial regulatory requirements outlined under the Ontario Food Premises Regulation. In an effort to continue our high standard of care, we introduced new internal food safety guidelines. We recognized that our ability to maintain safe food handling during the transportation of prepared food was not adequate. As a result, we are presently not accepting certain prepared food items until we are able to upgrade our current infrastructure. We will continue to work with, and are appreciative of, all community partners who support us through the donation of prepared food items.
