What made you want to join the Shepherds’ team?

When I graduated and moved to Ottawa, I was looking for work in the field and stumbled upon a job posting for Shepherds. After doing a bit of research on the organization, I liked their philosophy and the range of clients they served. After working for the organization for a short time, I realized that the staff and management were excellent and the position offered the type of experience I was looking for.

Interacting with the residents and seeing that my input does make a difference – a smile, a thank you.

What would you be doing if you were not at your current job?

I would likely be working as an RN or RPN or running my own small business.

What’s the typical reaction when someone moves from the shelter environment to supportive housing?

The reaction from most individuals is a thank you to staff for offering something they thought they would never have – a home. This is often repeated numerous times and in different ways over the coming weeks.

What do you like to do when you’re not working at Shepherd’s of Good Hope?

I have a second part time job driving for Uber and much of my free time is spent running a paranormal investigation group.
